Grammarly's State of Business Communication report, produced with the Harris Poll, found knowledge workers spend nearly 20 hours a week on written communication, and that poor communication costs US companies an estimated $1.2 trillion annually. The US Navy famously saved between 25 and 37 million dollars a year simply by rewriting memos for clarity. Business writing is a specific, learnable skill, not an innate talent, and this course builds it directly.
Professionals without structured business writing training often experience:
This course builds the specific, practical writing skills that turn unclear drafts into communication that actually gets read and acted on.
Drafting reports, memos, and updates that need to communicate clearly and drive decisions.
Writing proposals and client communications where clarity and persuasion directly affect results.
Drafting policies and internal communications that need to be understood precisely, not just written.
Documenting plans and status updates that stakeholders actually read and act on.
Building strong writing habits early, before less effective patterns become fixed.
Adapting tone and structure for global or multicultural audiences and stakeholders.
Practical writing skill you apply to your very next email or report.
Why this module matters: Most weak business writing fails at the planning stage, before a single sentence is drafted, not at the sentence level itself. This module builds the habit of planning purpose, audience, and structure first, the single highest-leverage change most writers can make.
Why this module matters: Clarity at the sentence level is what separates writing that gets read from writing that gets skimmed or ignored. This module builds that skill directly, then applies it to the two formats professionals write most often, email and memos.
Why this module matters: Longer, higher-stakes documents, reports and proposals, need structure and persuasive technique that simple emails don't require. This module builds those specific skills, since a well-written proposal or report can directly influence decisions and outcomes.
Why this module matters: A strong first draft still needs disciplined editing, and increasingly needs to work for audiences across different cultural and business contexts. This final module builds both skills, then has participants apply everything to a complete document of their own.

Can I bring my own real documents to work on during the course?
Yes, and we encourage it. The capstone project in the final module works best when applied to a genuine document from your own role, a report, proposal, or recurring email you actually need to write.
Does the course cover report and proposal writing specifically, or mainly emails?
Both, in dedicated modules. Email and memo writing gets its own focused treatment, and reports and persuasive proposal writing gets a separate module, since the two require genuinely different structural approaches.
Is this course useful for someone who already writes reasonably well, or only for weaker writers?
It's useful across skill levels. Even strong writers typically tighten their process significantly, especially around planning before drafting and structured self-editing, both of which are commonly skipped even by experienced writers.
Join professionals who've replaced rambling drafts and rewritten emails with clear, structured writing that gets read and acted on.
